It’s time to bring professional basketball back to our region.

In 1979 Newcastle were there as a foundation club when the National Basketball League was formed. Four decades on and we are long overdue for a return to the national stage.

In recent years as the NBL has once again started to expand we have seen Phoenix rise, and JackJumpers…. jump. Newcastle deserves to be next in line.

Of course the neither the NBL, nor the WNBL, have announced official plans for further expansion at this stage, but Newcastle should be getting itself ready for when they do.

But I’m just one guy, and obviously I can’t realistically start an entire basketball club, which is why this is a campaign to build community interest, maybe attract the attention of potential sponsors or even prospective owners, and show that Novocastrians are ready for the NBL and WNBL to hit the court in our town.
